NTT Electronics' Exhibits at the "IBC 2007"
October 19, 2007
NTT Electronics Corporation participated in "IBC 2007" held at RAI International Exhibition and Congress Center in Amsterdam, Netherlands for five days from September 7th to the 11th. The exhibition is the largest exhibition for broadcasting products and digital broadcasting technologies in Europe. This year it hosted booths from over 1,300 companies and welcomed over 46,964 visitors, which is the largest IBC ever. At the NTT Electronics booth, we demonstrated our high definition products on large-screen displays and introduced new products and technologies that target future codec markets. We'd like to say a great thank you to all those who visited our booth during the expo.

Live broadcast of the 2007 Tour de France using our HD MPEG-2 codecs wins honors at the 2nd Annual SVG Sports Technology Reception held during IBC 2007!
The Second Annual SVG Sport Technology Reception held during IBC 2007 honored the major French program production company SFP and France Televisions with an award for technology excellence at their live HD broadcast of the 2007 Tour de France. In order to produce a realistic live broadcast of the race in HD, they shot footage of the race using seven bikes and helicopters equipped with seven sets of the HD MPEG-2 Encoder/Decoder H5000 Series from NTT Electronics.

The world's first 4:2:2 high-profile H.264/AVC HDTV/SDTV real-time encoder / decoder with low latency and ultra-high quality video (HV9100 series)
Equipped with an H.264 real-time codec LSI which supports 4:2:2 high profile that was developed for applicable to the contribution use for broadcasting. Visitors were riveted on the overwhelmingly high quality images produced at low latency (800 msec or less*) using H.264 which requires advanced processing. The unit received high praise for enabling a smooth migration to the future technologies by supporting multiple formats such as MPEG-2 and H.264/AVC.
* Measured value by NTT Electronics as of September, 2007

Real-time MPEG-2 to H.264 4:2:2 high-profile HDTV transcoder (HVT9100)
Excellent for high-quality HDTV distribution such as IPTV, CATV or satellite TV service with its real-time transcoding from MPEG-2 HDTV to highly compressed H.264/AVC. We’ve heard increasing concerns about moving to H.264. The blind use of an MPEG-2 decoder and an H.264 encoder increases space and costs, and losses image quality by decoding back to baseband. The HVT9100 puts an original successive encoding technology and transcoding with low image deterioration in a 1RU rack size configuration.

HDTV MPEG-2 Encoder LSI/Module Demonstration
- Encoder/Decoder Module SC3000 Series
- Encoder LSI LibraENC
- Codec LSI SuperENC V
On display was each types of LSI. And placing two big-screen displays side-by-side allowed a real-time comparison of the original video and one compressed and decompressed with NTT Electronics MPEG-2 technology.
