NTT Electronics' Exhibits at the "IBC 2007"
December 20, 2007
NTT Electronics Corporation participated in the Inter BEE 2007 (International Broadcast Equipment Exhibition) held at the Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex from November 20th to the 22nd. Inter BEE is the largest and most comprehensive exhibition of broadcast equipment and digital broadcast technology in Japan. Attention was focused on new services arising from the wave of change to digital broadcasting engulfing the world as well as the cooperation and fusion of broadcast and communication. These factors helped make Inter BEE 2007 the largest in history, with 35,637 visitors and 754 exhibitors from 26 countries. At the NTT Electronics booth, we used large-screen displays to demonstrate and introduce our new products and technologies. We'd like to say a big thank you to all those who visited our booth during the expo.
[New Product] The HV9100 Series: World's first low latency and high quality AVC/H.264 HDTV/SDTV real-time encoder/decoder with support for High 4:2:2 Profile

HV9100 Series Exhibit 1: Demonstrated HD video transmission from the field through linkage with an FPU unit.
The HV9100 Series is an encoder/decoder with a built-in original LSI H.264 real-time codec developed for professional use that supports High 4:2:2 Profile perfect for contribution.
We cooperatively demonstrated the HV9100 Series with an FPU unit supplied by courtesy of our business partner. Through use of both the HV9100 Series and the FPU unit, we transmitted high definition video from the field in real-time.

HV9100 Series Exhibit 2: The appeal of HD transmission at a low bit rate and in a variety of applications.
In this corner, we introduced uses of the HV9100 in a variety of environments, like CATV and community access systems, together with a modulator and demodulator (16 QAM) and a 25 GHz wireless transfer system supplied by courtesy of our business partner.
We demonstrated the quality difference by changing the bit rate within a range of 6 to 15 Mbps. By showing a high definition transmission at a low bit rate of 6 Mbps, there are high expectations for use of the HV9100 Series in providing service through limited bandwidth such as IPTV and CATV.

[New Product] HVT9100: MPEG-2 to AVC/H.264 HDTV Real-time Transcoder Before and After Quality Comparison of Transcoded Video.
Using our new HVT9100 MPEG-2 to AVC/H.264 HDTV real-time transcoder, we demonstrated the difference in quality between an MPEG-2 format video and a transcoded H.264 format video. This exhibit garnered significant attention because it clearly showed the transcoder eliminated image deterioration.

SU1000: IP Super-Compact MPEG-2 Codec Demonstration of a two-way TV conference system.
NTT Electronics demonstrated a live TV conference system by connecting the Makuhari Messe Convention Complex with a conference room in our Yokohama offices via a B Flets line (Japanese FTTH service). Many customers were intrigued by experiencing an extremely realistic TV conference, made possible by combining our SU1000 two-way IP MPEG-2 codec with the Real Talk ST echo canceller function from NTT-AT.
With the increase in HD programming and the number of channels, there is a growing demand for AVC/H.264 codecs that provide an even more effective compression technology over the existing MPEG-2. We expect attention to remain focused on NTT Electronics codec technologies as we continue to build on the systems demonstrated at Inter BEE 2007 to provide new solutions for the broadcast, IPTV, and CATV industries.
