AVC/H.264 Codec with Built-in Original Chip for Contribution to be Unveiled
TOKYO (April 10, 2007) - NTT Electronics Corporation (President, Tomoyuki Toshima, HQ: Tokyo) and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (President: Norio Wada, HQ: Tokyo, hereafter “NTT”) will unveil new products and technologies at NAB2007, the world’s largest electronic media show in Las Vegas, from April 16 to 19. Their booth (Booth No. SU10220), themed “Unveiling the Real H.264 Solution” will exhibit the first NTT Cyber Space Laboratories technology to be presented at the show, including AVC/H.264 technologies such as an encoder/decoder equipped with the original chip employing the 4:2:2 high-profile AVC/H.264 for Contribution. New products and solutions for video content transmission/creation/distribution services in broadcasting and telecommunications also will be introduced at the booth. In addition, NTT Electronics will demonstrate cutting-edge video transmission equipment, such as the H3000/H5100 Series, a high-quality MPEG-2 encoder/decoder used by broadcasters worldwide.
The following products will be on display.
Contribution
- First time on display AVC/H.264 Codec LSI (Technology exhibit, NTT Cyber Space Laboratories).
A new HDTV AVC/H.264 codec LSI developed by NTT Cyber Space Laboratories will be unveiled. This is the world’s first high-profile codec LSI supporting AVC/H.264 for Contribution. An ultra-high-quality video will be on display.
- New Product H5100 Series: High performance MPEG-2 HDTV encoder/decoder with enhanced audio processing functionality and multi channels.
Optional functions include up to 16 channels of audio input and built-in Dolby E or Dolby Digital processing module. Optional IP transmission interface can be installed to dramatically improve mobility by eliminating the need for an external IP device.
- H3000 Series: Lightweight, compact, high performance MPEG-2 HDTV encoder/decoder.
A compact, half-rack, lightweight high-quality encoder/decoder for content transmission that is perfect for mobile, such as OB Vans, helicopters or motorcycles. Transmits or relays live video from the field by SNG/dedicated line. The SCE3000, the SDTV version of the H3000 Series, will also be on display.
- NA5000: MPEG-2 transport stream over IP interface unit for transmission.
Provides high-quality video transmission utilizing wide-area LAN or dedicated line using bi-directional transfer of MPEG-2 transport streams. Supports connections with 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet lines, and is equipped with Forward Error Correction (FEC) function and encryption function.
- 4k x 2k MPEG-2 encoder ES8000/decoder DS8000 Super High Resolution (SHR).
Can transmit ultra-fine 4k x 2k video and audio in real-time, and can relay up to four HDTV live video channels from a sports stadium or the like. The optional NA5000 interface unit can be added to enable multicast simultaneous transmission to various sites via an IP network.
Content Distribution
- First time on display Real-time MPEG-2/H.264 Transcoder (Technology exhibit, NTT Cyber Space Laboratories).
Transcodes MPEG-2 HDTV to high-compression AVC/H.264 in real-time, making this transcoder ideal for transmitting high-quality HDTV video by IPTV, CATV or satellite. This transcoder is used in the NTT Group’s NGN trial of IP-based retransmission of terrestrial digital broadcast.
- HVE7100: High-quality AVC/H.264 HDTV real-time encoder.
High-quality HDTV encoder for IPTV, CATV or satellite. Supports main profile and high profile and is equipped with IP output and 2-channel DVB-ASI output.
Content Creation
- Software-based content creation encoding system (Technology exhibit, NTT Cyber Space Laboratories).
Software-based encoding system makes encoding tuning more flexible. Particularly ideal for content creation such as VoD, where high compression is emphasized.
- HT1000: HD-Linkage IEEE1394-to-HD-SDI / DVB-ASI converter.
Converts HDV (MPEG-2 TS, 1080i@59.94, 1080i@50) signals into HD-SDI and DVB-ASI signals without any special settings, enabling user to just supply power and connect an HDV camera to a professional editor’s system. Can be combined with the NA5000 IP interface unit to provide HDTV transmission via an IP network.
