SFP (France) selected the new H5000 Series to broadcast the Tour de France live
TOKYO (July 5, 2007) - NTT Electronics Corporation (President: Tomoyuki Toshima; HQ: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) has developed a variety of image compression technologies. Recently, SFP (Societe Francaise de Production), which is the largest production studio in France and broadcasts numerous sports events, purchased HD MPEG-2 Encoder/Decoder H5000 Series for live broadcasting of sports events.
SFP will be using their newly purchased NTT Electronics’ HD MPEG-2 Encoder/Decoder H5000 Series to HD broadcast the Tour de France, the largest cycling road race in the world, scheduled to be started from July 7. SFP has already been using NTT Electronics’ HD MPEG-2 Encoder/Decoder H3000 Series since last year, when they used it to broadcast the French Open, one of the four largest international tennis tournaments in the world, live in HD.
Rudy Dendleux, SFP Development Director, makes the following comment. “SFP is now able to broadcast sports events live in HD thanks to NTT Electronics’ Encoder/Decoder. I think viewers will love the exciting HD images of the Tour de France this system will allow us to transmit, thanks to the incredible fluidity and stability of the images.”
SFP has purchased two products: HD MPEG-2 HD Encoder HE5000 and MPEG-2 HD Decoder HD5000. These models are the successor to the popular, compact, high-quality half-rack size H3000 series, and are compliant with European RoHS regulations. These models support 1080i, 720p, 480i and other image formats, and permit up to 2 system/8-channel audio encoding. These models are even more user friendly than before, with an optional BISS-1/E Scrambling(*1) function to improve scrambling for satellite transmission, HTTP menu(*2) to improve online ease of use, and SNMP function(*3) to improve maintenance. These models are ideal for sports broadcasting, with a 1U height, compact half-rack size, DC 12V operation and portable 4kg (8.8lb) weight. NTT Electronics also offers the H5100 series with redundant AC power supply.
