At IBC2024, we will exhibit our newest broadband network product, “MediaRouterX V2,” an optical packet transponder with L2/L3 routing functions. It supports media synchronization of Media over IP (SMPTE ST 2110) and long-distance and large-capacity transmission by 400G ZR/ZR+. With two ports of QSFP56-DD and the switching capacity of 800 Gbps, a pair of MediaRouterX will achieve remote production of over 10 channels of HD/UHD uncompressed video. We also provide a 400G ZR/ZR+ coherent optical transceiver, having NTT Devices’ inhouse DSP inside, that can be used on QSFP56-DD ports of MediaRouterX.

The PTP function of the cutting-edge cell-site router is designed to support SMPTE ST2059, a profile used for media synchronization of Media over IP (SMPTE ST 2110). The compact 1U-size form-factor (the depth is about 30cm) offers optical transponder, L2/L3 routing, and PTP synchronization signals. By connecting GNSS/GPS antenna, the unit can generate PTP signals compliant with SMPTE 2059-2. Remote production can be achieved by connecting multiple video equipment supporting ST 2110 to its SFP28 ports and using 400G ZR/ZR+ coherent optical transceivers to connect stadium and broadcast studio. Not only for remote production, but this product is also useful for various applications that require low latency transmission of uncompressed videos, such as telemedicine and remote operation of construction machines.

MediaRouterX V2 won the Best of Show Award 2024 Grand Prize (Innovation Technology Department (Media Challenge (Media Over IP, etc.) at Interop Tokyo 2024, one of the biggest internet technology tradeshows in Japan. Award judge commented “this product enables 400Gbps video transmission over long distance and achieves video transmission more easily by having PTP grandmaster function. Moreover, the price is lower than competitor’s products and we can have high expectations for its rollout, then we give the grand prize.”

Feature

  MediaRouterX V2 Note
Size W:440 x H:44 x D:302 (mm) Depth size is small
Interface QSFP-DD(100G/400GbE) x2, QSFP28(40G/100GbE) x2, SFP28(10G/25GbE) x24 Easy to connect video/audio devices. 1000BASE-T devices are also connectable.
Long-Distance communication 400G-ZR/ZR+
(QSFP-DD DCO)
It enables large-capacity and long-distance transmission
Uncompressed video transmission SDI/IP GW is needed separately (it can be connected to SFP28 ports) Users can freely choose video/audio devices supporting IP
PTP Synchronization It works as a PTP signal source by connecting GNSS antenna. It can work as BC/TC as well. No need for another PTP server.

Application Example

Users bring MediaRouterX V2 to event sites such as stadiums and connect cameras supporting SMPTE ST 2110 and other devices. BY connecting GNSS antenna, MediaRouterX V2 generate and distribute PTP synchronization signals compliant with SMPTE ST 2059 profile, and then multiple cameras are synchronized. A Stadium and a distant broadcast studio are connected by 400G ZR/ZR+, achieving remote production.
